DragonFly Workshop

Dragonflies and damselflies (known collectively as the Odonata) are fascinating and beautiful insects and can be found throughout Minnesota, from the prairies to the north woods. There are 98 known species of dragonfly and 34 known damselfly species in Minnesota with three dragonflies
and two damselflies added to the state list in the last two summers. The Minnesota Odonata Survey Project (MOSP) has been started, with Minnesota DNR funding, in an effort to expand our knowledge of where these charismatic insects live in Minnesota.

Join the MOSP for a fun and informative, hands-on workshop at the Ney Nature Center on May 16th, 2008 from 9-4:00. This workshop will be conducted by award-winning author of Dragonflies of the North Woods, Kurt Mead. During the workshop participants will receive an introduction to the
ecology, natural history and identification of dragonflies and damselflies. Time in the field will allow students to observe, catch (with a net) and identify dragonflies and damselflies.

Registration for this workshop can be made by contacting Kurt Mead at info@mndragonfly.org. More info about the MOSP is available at www.mndragonfly.org.
