Be the first to post the answer to which building this is part of on the Ney Preserve, and you will earn an invaluable eco-friendly gift.

The object is to guess which building I was standing a little too close to when I took the photograph. All of the buildings are on the Ney Preserve.

Good luck, and post your guess as a reply.

Everything is green and growing at the NNC. Most of the trails have been mowed once. A tree is down on the long trail to the Butterfly Meadow, but you are able to get by. Deer (with fawn?)is at the tree planting beyond the butterfly meadow, hawks in the big cottonwood, small turkey flock in the planting, ducks on the pond and, of course, mosquitos.

Oof-da! What a couple weeks!

It seems like most of the website is back up and running. We lost our server several weeks ago, and when re-installing on the new server, we decided to unveil version 2.0. Unfortunately, not everything was ready.

While the site looks similar on the outside, it's what's hidden that is really cool. Most important will be the ease of updating. The new site is running on the Wordpress blog software, a powerful CMS that allows easy updating, interactive calendars, public comments, and countless add-ons.

The forum is back too, and most notably different from the old version. The new forum is running on bbPress, software that integrates well with the rest of the site. In fact, if you registered with the old forum, not only is your password and username still working, it will work with the rest of the site if you want to post comments to the stories. Currently, the forum doesn't have as many features as the old one, but seems to be doing it's job.

Now your part. Due to the quirks of the countless different Internet browsers, not all functions work as well in each browser version. I have access to several browsers on different operating systems, but not all. I need your help in letting me know what is working, what isn't. Most notable, right now, is the drop-down menus in the main section of the website.

If you find things that aren't working well, either post a reply here, or submit your message on the Contact Page.

Thanks for your patience.

Hello from the NNC. Skiing today was very good. The trails had been newly groomed and on a scale of 1 - 5, skiing was a 4. The sun was bright and the wind was moderate out of the SSW at about 8 mph. The temp was around 38 so the wind chill was arround 30 or so. Bright patterns with the sun now only a month away from the Spring Equinox. Interesting designs on the drifted snow off the plowng. You can see the blown dirt patterns on the snow just as you would see the patterns on dessert rock formations. Away from the field edges the snow is still drifted, but white and clean. Skiing should hold for a while and will stay "good" if another few inches of snow falls this week sometime. Happy Trails. Dick

Skiing today (Saturday) at the NNC was just about perfect. I skied all of the trails and all were excellent. They had been freshly groomed and most had no activity until I skied.

A group of kids with adults were having a GREAT time skiing, snowshoeing, hill sliding onto the pond, sitting around the fire ring, or just enjoying the wonderful late January day with bright sun, no wind, and 23 F.

I saw three healthy looking fox squirrels run from the corn food plot to the woods as I came past. An eagle was soaring over the hillside facing the MN River Valley. Tracks abound all over the Center.

A very nice quiet time with the only sound most of the way was the swoosh of the skies.
Alright..don't know if I put this in the right section of the forum.....

The question is this...I saw in the newsletter that you were looking for old magazines (MN Volunteer and such) but I lost the newsletter....do you still want old magazines and how should we go about getting them to the Ney Center? My parents had some they were looking to pass on but we're not really in the immediate area (although we do get down that way from time to time)...

if someone could email me, that would be great swngdncr@gmail.com

thanks so much
