Happy New Year Board and Friends

I have skied twice this week at the NNC. Skiing on a 1 – 10 was about a 7 both times, So, not too bad. Becky and Nick have said that skiers, sledders, and snowshoers have been out on both Saturday and Sunday. It is great that we are having folks show interest in Winter Programs and Events at the Ney.

It was an inspirational ski today. A light snow was falling about noon with no wind. Everything was white, to tans, to browns, to grays, to black. Tracks were drifted over in spots but you could ski on top of the drifts. In other areas the tracks from the last groom (and Martha W’s tracks from today) were visible and easy to ski.

The late Monday ski was completely different. The sun was setting to the West, across the river valley and the almost full moon was rising in the East, across the Pond. What a serene feeling also. Both times you felt alone with nature and you only heard the swish of the skies and the “tick-tock” sound of the poles on the snow. What a GREAT PLACE this NNC is!

If you are outside on New Year’s Eve, you will experience a “Blue Moon”. The next full moon, or “Blue Moon” on a New Year’s Eve will happen in 2029. I hope to be night skiing on that one too.

Have a Happy and Wonderful 2010.
Dick
