What is a Junior Leader?
Junior Leaders are volunteers who help our summer day camp team. They are leaders who make the campers’ experiences at Ney fun, educational, and safe. Throughout the summer, they’ll assist with all aspects of camp including leading games, supervising campers during activities, and working with staff to ensure camp is engaging for everyone.
What are the requirements?
- Must be 15, 16, or 17 years of age throughout June and July.
- Must enjoy working with children, exploring the outdoors, and participating in camp activities.
- Must be able to take direction and feedback to effectively follow through with assigned responsibilities while maintaining a mature, positive, service-oriented attitude.
- Must complete an interview with Ney Staff, participate in mandatory training, and commit to volunteering for at least 1 week of camp.
What are the benefits?
Throughout the summer, Junior Leaders can make new friends and connections with staff and fellow volunteers. Participating in camp activities will allow volunteers to build leadership skills and valuable hands-on experience. Additionally, volunteer time is eligible for service learning credits and is great for resume building.
